We are a Not-For-Profit organisation established by refugee women in Logan, to empower African and refugee women. We aim to combat issues faced by refugee women with special interest on African women and provide cultural tailored support and promote active participation in the community to enable employment security and social ties. We have volunteers that teach English speaking classes a few days a week along with sewing classes to help these women build skills that can beneficial to them. Many refugee women are isolated, have low self-esteem issues, trust issues, unable to navigate the system and don’t feel sense of belonging due to unmet needs by service providers and their personal experience challenges. A lot of people in our community have fallen through the cracks and don’t know where to go and how to get assistance. Our organisation allows these women to feel a sense of community.
