A vulnerable lady who is living in and paying off a unit in West End has unfairly been issued an invoice for a visit from a plumber to the unit above hers to address an ingress of water from the pipes from their bathroom.
Body Corporate Legal Advice is not covered by free legal services. The Invoice has been halted for a short time to allow her to arrange for a plumber to give a report about the cause of the leak. This hasn't been arranged yet as she is on a disability pension with no spare funds to pay for a plumber, but feels it is unfair as the Agent for that unit sent the plumber's invoice to the body corporate manager to be paid and they have created an invoice for the effected unit owner to pay. (Note the leak occurred on a Saturday evening and the Agent of the unit hung up on her so when she reported it to the body corporate manager the chairperson said call in office hours, but when she called on Monday no action was taken for 11 days when the plumber could see no leak and the Agent felt this was an unnecessary cost.
