A client suffered a motorcycle accident 20 years ago which affected his mobility, health and housing. The client when able continued to work but increasingly developed a dependence on alcohol and pain medications. As he became older his issues become worse and all aspects of his health suffered. He lost the ability to work due to his damaged leg and mobility issues which led him into homelessness, alcohol rehab and recovery. He is 3 years sober recently and is pro-active with AA meetings and supports. He continues to await for specialist appointments / review but lives with a lot of pain. He is being offered independent accommodation through social and community housing but has no means to purchase suitable furniture. Many items can be gathered over time, but a bed and mattress, fridge/freezer and washing machine are essential and in immediate need for his health and well-being.
