This new single Afghan mother just arrived in Canberra two weeks ago. They are facing issues with their old mobiles.

This Afghan family, led by a single mother, is experiencing significant financial hardship and urgently needs mobile phones for the children. Their previous phones were 3G devices, which are no longer compatible in Australia, leaving the children without any way to communicate. After paying rent and purchasing essential groceries—especially during Ramadan, when expenses increase—the family cannot afford new mobile phones. A Big W voucher would greatly assist them in purchasing affordable smartphones. Having access to mobile phones is essential for this family, as the mother faces a language barrier, ongoing trauma, and constant worry about her children’s safety. Without phones, she has no way of knowing when or how her children will contact her from school or in emergencies. Providing vouchers will ensure the children can stay connected and their mother can feel secure during this challenging time.
