An Aboriginal single mum is caring for her young son who was diagnosed with a brain tumour as a toddler. After a long and frightening process to get answers, he underwent major brain surgery. While most of the tumour was removed, some remains. He still needs scans every six months, and doctors have warned it may grow again as he gets older. This ongoing uncertainty has been very distressing for the family.
Recently, this mum and her son have also experienced domestic violence, which has left them both deeply affected and trying to feel safe again. Her son is more anxious and unsettled, and this mum is doing her best to support him while also dealing with her own trauma and stress.
Grocery vouchers would provide much needed support, helping ease the pressure and ensure the family has food and essentials while they focus on her son’s health and wellbeing.
