My tenant is a 75-year-old man, often described as a gentle giant, who has been bedridden for over eight months. A fiercely independent person, he has always struggled to ask for help—even when he needs it most. He is also still carrying the deep grief of losing his eldest daughter to a tragic drowning four years ago, a loss that has profoundly affected his wellbeing.
When he was recently found, he was living in extremely poor conditions and unable to move due to severe blood clots in his legs. Without the ability to attend medical appointments, he had gone without essential medication, further impacting his health.
His only support is a childhood friend of more than 60 years, who stepped in as best he can. Despite not knowing how to fully navigate the situation, he continues to advocate for his friend with loyalty and care.
