Male with disability offered employment but facing hardship after NDIS cuts. Needs boots and uniform to start work.
This client is a man living with disability who has recently experienced a reduction in NDIS funding, including a decrease in support worker assistance. As a result, he has lost important supports that previously assisted him with daily tasks and maintaining independence. The client receives DSP. However, this is currently insufficient to meet his fixed living expenses. Rising cost of living pressures, arrears on essential accounts, existing debt and additional disability related expenses have contributed to ongoing financial hardship. The client also lives with dysphagia, requiring specialised food and increasing his weekly living costs. Despite these challenges, the client has been offered employment and is committed to improving his circumstances and increasing his financial independence. Unfortunately, he cannot afford the work boots and uniform required to commence employment. Assistance with these items would remove a significant barrier to employment.
