This young Aboriginal mother is raising her four-month-old daughter as a single parent after making the courageous decision to leave a domestic and family violence relationship. She is currently living with her mother, who provides accommodation and emotional support while she focuses on creating a safe and stable environment for her baby.
As the first generation in her family to have the opportunity to safely parent and raise her own child, she is determined to break intergenerational cycles and provide her daughter with a positive future. The client lives with mental health conditions and has an ADHD diagnosis, however she remains committed to her wellbeing and to being the best mother she can be.
The family is currently supported by government payments and faces ongoing financial challenges. Despite these circumstances, the client has clear goals for the future. She hopes to return to the workforce when her daughter is around one year old.
