Creating a Safe and Calming Sensory Space for Mental Health Consumers

Our community mental health clinic supports consumers experiencing severe mental health challenges, many of whom are also facing trauma, anxiety, social isolation, domestic violence, substance use, financial hardship, and housing instability.
Many consumers arrive feeling overwhelmed, distressed, or emotionally dysregulated. Our sensory room offers a safe, calming space to support emotional regulation, reduce distress, and help consumers feel supported during difficult moments.
Our current sensory room has limited resources and requires refurbishment to better meet consumers’ needs.
We are kindly requesting:
• Kmart, Target, Coles or Woolworths vouchers to purchase sensory resources
• Donations of sensory items including artificial plants, fidget tools, soft lighting, light projectors, art materials, aromatherapy items, sound machines, noise-cancelling headphones, and weighted comfort items.
