Other hardship(s)
Flooding 2022
At 61, an elderly man is isolated, living with severe health issues On a Disability Pension income, he cannot afford to leave the area and has endured a heartbreaking 7-year cycle of compounding flood disasters. In 2017 (Ex-TC Debbie), a wall of mud destroyed his belongings and family memorabilia. He slowly rebuilt, only for the major 2021 and historic 2022 floods to drown his home again. The breaking blow came in Feb 2024; rapid flash floods ruined his household goods for a fourth time and completely submerged one of his cars. For a man with chronic illness, losing his vehicle stripped away his independence and vital medical access. The older gentlemen is physically and financially depleted, living in bare conditions.

How it's helped before

I am writing to personally thank 'GIVIT' for a generous 'Simply Groceries eGift card' voucher that I was gifted, with $100 worth of essential spending money for my family & I to utilise at our own discretion. I can happily report this donation has assisted the purchase of a basic, solo, wifi security camera, with the excess going toward food for my teenage daughter who is currently taken on responsibilities around our home while I recover in a rehabilitation centre. Thank you for this kind gesture, as it has helped to improve security measures around our home & support my daughter to purchase daily essential items such as groceries, basic hygiene & cleaning products.

Thank you for your generous gesture & much needed support GIVIT.
