A woman from a refugee background lives with disability and limited income while working toward independence through study.
GIVIT
A lady arrived in Australia in 2023 from a refugee background. According to medical reports, she has a severe physical disability following hip replacement surgery, compounded by multiple medical conditions and secondary trauma.
These challenges prevent her from undertaking physical or labour-intensive work. She currently relies on Centrelink payments, which cover only basic living and rental costs.
Despite these barriers, she is highly motivated and is studying a Certificate course in Individual Support. Having access to a laptop would support her learning and help her continue building independence as part of her settlement journey.
