Following the devastating Longwood bushfires in January 2026, a woman in her 70s has been left in extremely difficult living conditions. After losing her fencing in the fire, her situation has become increasingly unsafe and isolating. She is now living in a basic shed with no power and no running water, managing day to day with only the bare essentials. What many of us take for granted warmth, light, clean water, and security are daily challenges for her.
At her age, no one should have to live in such harsh and uncertain circumstances.
Despite her resilience and strength, the reality is that she needs support. Replacing fencing is critical to restoring safety, security, and a sense of stability and allow her donkeys to return to her property. With further assistance, we are also hoping to improve her living conditions by installing a water tank and replacing downpipes, allowing her to collect rainwater from the roof and have access to a reliable water source.
