A First Nations female parent demonstrates strength and resilience while living with the impacts of family and domestic violence, mental health challenges, financial hardship, and limited support networks. Her mental health can affect daily functioning and emotional wellbeing; however, she remains committed to providing a safe and stable home, using painting as a positive outlet for self-expression and wellbeing. She cares for her own child and has also opened her home to a friend's teenager, providing safety, stability, and guidance. Determined to keep the young person off the streets and away from the justice system, she continues to support their wellbeing despite the added financial strain of feeding and caring for another child with limited resources. She is working to create separate bedrooms, reducing the risk of homelessness and housing instability while maintaining a culturally connected, nurturing, and protective home environment.
