This young single Aboriginal mum has an intellectual impairment and is the primary carer for her ageing father and a sibling with a disability. Socially isolated and spends much of her time at home caring for her family and toddler. Following severe flooding, she was unaware of the support available and lived in unsafe conditions for an extended period, including six months without a functioning shower while caring for her baby. Despite these challenges, she has shown remarkable resilience, working hard to clean, organise and care for her family with very limited resources. Extensive mould damage after the flood resulted in the loss of nearly all belongings for her and her toddler, and the home required full restoration. While she now has a safe home, she has very limited income and still needs essential household items. As her Family Preservation practitioner, I have seen her genuine gratitude for support received. Donations will help give this family the fresh start they deserve.
