Recipient story

After school teenage activities providing a safe space for community connection and support.
Domestic & Family Violence
Other hardship(s)
Our Neighbourhood Centre is commencing an after-school activity space for local teenagers 13 - 17 years old. The purpose is to provide a safe and engaging space for teenagers to come together, reducing risky behaviours and social isolation within the community.
This initiative is due to community concern about a lack of safe spaces for teenagers to gather within the area. The nearest funded youth service is over 15kms away and requires multiple bus changes to access.
There is currently no funding for our Neighbourhood Centre for this initiative.
The Neighbourhood Centre is providing the venue and staffing for the program, and would like to provide afternoon tea, along with activities such as arts and crafts or cooking to engage the teenagers.
Donations received would be able to provide this, allowing the service to feel welcoming and productive for those accessing, with the hope that once evidence of benefit can be established then long term program funding may be achieved.
