A young First Nations woman and single mother of seven children has experienced housing instability and homelessness for the past 6–8 months after fleeing violence in her previous community. During this period, she and her children have been residing in temporary accommodation while she searched for secure, long-term housing.
Demonstrating significant resilience and determination, she has recently secured a private rental property in a new area, providing her family with the opportunity to relocate to safe and stable housing. She has managed this process independently, without access to family support networks.
Two of her children have high support needs and receive intensive disability supports. Another child requires ongoing surgical treatment and specialist medical care following severe burns sustained in an accidental house fire more than a year ago.
