Older couple, nearing retirement, were significantly impacted by the January 2026 Harcourt bushfires, losing their home, belongings and shedding. After years of working and raising their family, they are now navigating recovery in very challenging circumstances.
They are currently living in a caravan on their property while working towards rebuilding their home. However, the lack of basic infrastructure has made it difficult to meet essential daily needs. Limited access to water is impacting their ability to cook, clean, shower and maintain hygiene.
Living in temporary conditions without reliable access to these basic necessities is placing ongoing strain on their wellbeing. As they try to rebuild their lives, the absence of a functional set-up continues to impact their comfort, health and recovery.
