Elderly couple suffered loss of essential items, infrastructure due to January '26 fires

This elderly couple living in the Murrindindi Shire were severely impacted by the January '26 bushfire disaster. The fires destroyed the fencing, sheds/outbuildings, and many treasured and essential items and equipment on the couple's rural property. Extensive smoke damage throughout the property's dwelling required the couple to evacuate to stay with family while the dwelling is cleaned and repaired.
The couple have limited funds for recovery, due to being heavily underinsured and living on a modest retirement budget. They are therefore seeking assistance to replace the essential household items, particularly bedding and furnishings, that have been smoke-contaminated and cannot be salvaged.
Any support to assist the couple with their re-establishment efforts and get them back in their home will be greatly appreciated.
