My client and her sister are 20 and 21 years old. They migrated to Australia in 2007. Their parents did not migrate with them. They were both living with their aunt. Over time they suffered abuse from their aunt and she would take most of their youth allowance claiming it was for rent - although they lived in a crowded house and did not have their own rooms. They were also forced to purchase their own food and were not allowed to eat with the others. My client left after a physical incident and has been couchsurfing with different uni friends and separated from her sister. This affected both their studies. My organisation has helped secure public housing and the sisters are now united but need your help to furnish their homes. The move has left them out of pocket and stressed during this exam period. They are bright students studying nursing and speech pathology. We want to keep their hopes high and bright and want to support them in the best way possible.
