Client is a 43-year-old man who has recently moved into a supported accommodation tenancy following a prolonged period of rough sleeping. He has an intellectual disability and a history of substance dependency, which previously made engaging with housing and support services overwhelming.
He is now demonstrating significant change. He has ceased substance use and is consistently engaging with pharmacotherapy, housing, and mental health supports. His move into his own unit represents a major milestone and an important step toward long-term stability.
When asked what would help him settle into his new home, he requested a PlayStation and soundbar system. These items would provide safe, meaningful in-home activities, support routine and wellbeing, and reduce isolation by encouraging him to spend time safely in his unit.
