I am supporting a 14 yo boy living with his single mum who works very hard (much night shift) but tries very hard to make the family environment safe and busy. His dad was a big drinker and abusive, and his dad's brother recently died by suicide so all are processing this event . His brain struggles to concentrate all day at school so I am reducing his school hours while he processes on what has meaning for him, and the choices he is making. HIs passion is Pokémon cards and swapping/trading them and I was hoping as an incentive to help brighten his life a $100 voucher from Kmart, so he can get some more cards and use these to keep bonding with his dad and friends as he processes difficult emotions - mum is also exploring self-defence classes
