A caring young musician uses music to support his mental health and needs help to keep learning at home.
GIVIT
This young person has a strong passion for music and actively participates in free opportunities at a local youth space, where he receives guidance and support to develop his musical skills. Playing guitar and engaging in music is a key support for his mental health and emotional wellbeing.
He lives in a kinship care placement due to the absence of his father and his mother’s inability to provide care because of mental health challenges. Despite these circumstances, he is a caring, kind, and motivated young person who takes up every opportunity offered to him.
He is also involved in a local church group, where he feels connected, supported, and able to build positive friendships within his community. As his interest and skills continue to grow, having opportunities to practise and develop his music outside of supported sessions is important for maintaining confidence, wellbeing, and engagement in something meaningful.
