A family of 5 have been battling serious health issues with 2 of their 3 children diagnosed with a rare genetic disease that will see them both blind by the age of 10 years old.... mum also diagnosed with the same fate but effecting women in their 40's.
A farming family in regional Australia, this news was devastating... not only because of the loss of vision and all the challenges that come with but because the family are third generation farmers and always anticipated that their boys would one day run the farm.... now their future looks unknown and is deeply troubling on many fronts.
The family have been hit further with the current fuel crisis. No fuel in town for 8 days and counting, residing on a farm 45kms out of town and no way to get to and from the airport for medical access in a major city (500kms) away from home.
Dad is really struggling mentally, with both the diagnosis and the arming pressures to feed his family.
Family are physically isolated, mentally withdrawing.
