An older woman living with disability following a stroke is doing everything she can to remain safely in her own home. The stroke has affected her vision, lower-limb mobility, continence and memory, making everyday tasks far more challenging than they once were.
She experiences ongoing difficulty understanding household bills and managing day-to-day expenses, which has caused significant stress and uncertainty. At time, there is limited food and access to basic household supplies, placing additional strain on her wellbeing. She is often left along for long periods and does not have access to a phone, increasing isolation and making it harder for her to reach out for help when she needs it.
Despite these challenges, she remains motivated to improve her health. She values structure and companionship and works hard with her support team to build confidence, strengthen her mobility and regain independence.
