Recipient story

Lonely First Nations man who is experiencing hardship
GIVIT
First Nations Support
First Nations man who was born with Cerebral Palsy. He was displaced from Country and grew up in the city with his single mum.

He lived at home with his mother until his mid-forties when his mother suddenly sadly passed away. His mental health has declined since her passing. He now lives alone and battles with depression. As a result of his depression, he experiences regular suicidal ideation and has regular stays in hospital.

At present he is living in a Department of Community Housing unit that is in need of serious repairs. He currently has sewerage that is coming up through his sink. His housing causes him a great deal of additional stress.

To cope with his poor mental health, he heavily relies on various methods of distraction, including watching TV, and visiting and obtaining our organisation's support.

Despite the adversity he currently faces, he has hope to improve his mental health, his housing situation and live a better life.
