This woman has experienced domestic and family violence, significant trauma and ongoing housing instability. Since late 2023, she has experienced periods of homelessness, including sleeping in her car, sleeping rough and relying on temporary accommodation.
She is now living in short-term supported accommodation and working with a caseworker to rebuild stability, address her health needs and secure safe, longer-term housing away from harmful family circumstances.
She relies on Centrelink and after accommodation expenses, child support, infringement repayments and other debts are deducted, she has approximately $18 remaining to cover transport, medication and all other essential living costs.
She also lives with complex post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety and depression. Accessing appropriate funding for ongoing health, clothing, study and job opportunities would support her nutrition, health, confidence and dignity as she works toward a safer and more stable future.
