The elderly woman has shown remarkable strength and resilience after escaping a situation of ongoing family violence perpetrated by her own son. For many years, she experienced physical abuse, emotional and psychological abuse, financial control, and stalking behaviours, which significantly affected her sense of safety, wellbeing, and independence. Fearing for her safety, she made the difficult decision to leave her home and seek alternative accommodation, it is currently lacking many of the essential household items needed to make it comfortable and habitable. She solely depends on Centrelink payments; she faces significant financial hardship. The cold weather has also created further challenges, as the property is very cold and she does not have adequate heating or warm bedding to keep herself comfortable and healthy. She is in urgent need of practical support, including warm blankets, an electric blanket, a heater, and other essential household items to help her settle down.
