Back injury and PTSD, a family to support — help him transition to safer work
GIVIT
He fled conflict years ago and has worked wherever he could since arriving in Australia in 2013. A serious back injury in 2023 means he can’t lift more than 10kg, and even part-time shifts leave him in pain. He’s doing stocktake and sales under 29 hours a week while supporting his wife and two teenagers — including a daughter with dyslexia — but the strain is constant and his PTSD makes the hard days harder.
He’s ready to move into less physical work. He’s enrolled in computer classes, polishing his résumé, and aiming for front-of-house roles like registers, retail service, library support, or the post office. He’s motivated, cooperative, and determined to provide for his family with dignity — he just needs a hand to bridge this transition.
