This young single mother is currently residing in social housing and is experiencing financial hardship while preparing for the birth of her second baby and caring for her two year old son. Following the birth of her son this mother experienced postnatal depression and DFV from her child's father impacting on her ability to engage with support, manage daily tasks and sustain her wellbeing. With ongoing financial stressors this mother is vulnerable to a recurrence of postnatal depression with her current pregnancy. Despite these challenges, this young mother has demonstrated significant resilience and perseverance and has engaged in therapeutic support to improve her wellbeing.
Practical relief at this time would have a substantial and positive impact on the family’s stability and wellbeing. It would reduce financial stress, and support this young mother's capacity to meet the emotional, practical and developmental needs of her children while the family adjusts to a new baby.
