We are supporting a single mum after she has fled from domestic and family violence with her 2 children. The family has recently been approved for a rental which is a huge step in their healing journey but is facing financial hardships. Mum has been working hard to make the house feel like a home, helping the children feel settled and safe, despite her limited resources. There is limited furniture in the home. Mum wants to have a bit of support for around the house, getting household items, such as a bookshelf, so the kids can have somewhere special to put their books and special things.
There have been significant emotional, physical and financial impacts from the violence. Mum is actively working with support services to increase stability and wellbeing for her children. Part of keeping to their routine is to engage with allied health services, social connection through after-school sporting activities.
