A vulnerable older woman is navigating significant hardship following the loss of her husband and a stroke in 2024. She is frail and has ongoing health needs, including a strict high protein soft food diet, while working to maintain her health and independence.
Living on a fixed aged pension income, she is experiencing ongoing financial hardship and struggling to meet essential household, medical and living expenses. Rising costs and financial pressures have resulted in difficulties maintaining utility expenses and meeting day to day needs.
She receives limited community support and currently has assistance one day per week to help with essential errands and appointments. Despite significant health and financial pressures, she is doing her best to remain independent and continue living within her community. Support at this time would assist in improving comfort, dignity and overall wellbeing.
