Grandparents seeking support to help with care of grandson

Grandparents have recently taken on the full-time care of their 5-year-old grandson in an informal kinship arrangement, providing him with a safe and stable home after he experienced significant family violence. Until now, he has been unable to attend school this year due to the instability and trauma in his previous living situation. This family is doing everything they can to support their grandson’s wellbeing and help him transition into a positive new chapter. However, they are managing on a single income while also supporting other family members living in the home, including their own son. The additional costs of caring for a young child particularly preparing him to start school are placing considerable financial strain on the household. Support is needed to assist with essential school-related expenses so their grandson can begin his education with the resources and stability every child deserves.
