Our client is a 16-year-old young person preparing to commence her HSC year in 2026. She has experienced significant instability across her childhood, including neglect, trauma, and disrupted family relationships. Since relocating to a regional area earlier this year, our client has demonstrated resilience and a strong commitment to her education, showing improved school attendance and academic focus.
She currently has no financial capacity to purchase a laptop or the essential school resources required for her HSC studies. She is also ineligible for typical educational financial supports because she is enrolled in a private school. This leaves her with no viable pathway to access the technology she urgently needs.
Her grandfather, who is her primary carer, is partially retired and financially strained due to ongoing household costs and the need to fund school fees for a better life.
