Afghan boy diagnosed with Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) needs proper bedding that meet his needs. EB‑appropriate bedding at a total cost of $508.58 (incl. GST) if we support them to get all these items in different shops in Canberra. The health service provider has advised low‑friction, breathable natural fibres (cotton/linen/bamboo) and a waterproof bamboo protector to minimise friction, heat and moisture, which are risk factors for blistering and skin tearing in EB. Standard polyester‑blend bedding is not clinically suitable in this context and would present a foreseeable risk to the child’s skin integrity. A voucher will help this family to alleviate the costs of purchasing these items. The EB‑specific items are: single mattress, single quilt, quilt cover, pillow, standard mattress protector, 100% waterproof bamboo mattress protector, and 100% bamboo sheet set.
