The applicant’s family is enduring immense hardship in the wake of Cyclone Alfred and ongoing domestic violence. Last year, the applicant’s severe health issues led to a coma, compounding the family’s struggles and leaving them emotionally and physically exhausted. Their home, once a place of safety, has become a daily reminder of trauma: the family’s property and car bear the scars of violence, and their lounge—damp and mouldy from the cyclone—poses a constant threat to their health, especially as they try to heal. An urgent replacement lounge is not just a practical need, but a vital step towards restoring health, comfort, and a sense of hope for this family as they rebuild their lives after so much loss.
