Other hardship(s)
At 3am on the 6th of March, the Daintree River broke its banks as a result from the heavy rainfall of Tropical Low 29U, and a long-time resident of Lower Daintree lost the contents of his home to the subsequent flooding. Having previously lost everything in his home to TC Jasper in 2023, he had only just finished re-establishing his home 3 months prior to this disaster, but has not yet been able to recover financially from his losses. Due to existing anxiety and trauma from the events of TC Jasper, he was awake and very vigilant, so he was monitoring the situation, when the water began to come in under the floor boards of his home. Within 30 minutes of the water's appearance, it was up to his knees. He quickly turned off the electricity and tried to get as much stuff as possible up high, but soon the water was to his waist and he was forced to evacuate his home. When he finally left, the water was at 1.5 metres high and still rising. As a result, he lost everything all over again.
