The Recovery Hub at Ruffy provides essential support and services to the fire effected community in the area
2026 Victoria Bushfires
The Ruffy recovery hub was set up in the immediate wake of the January 2026 fire events. Ruffy itself was devastatingly impacted by the fires and the Hub has served as a safe place for locals to get food, water, shelter, clothing, toilet & shower facilities, to access services and support and as a place to gather. It remains an essential part of the recovery effort - and will for some time to come.
The Hub has been volunteer run, with an amazing group preparing daily meals and frozen food, organizing donations of all types, liaising with local Council and support services and offering support to the community at large.

Capacity is needed to power the recovery hub and serve as a reliable back up for power outage events (Ruffy lies on the Benalla-Euroa feeder lines which is renowned for being a poor network and very vulnerable to lengthy outages). Inconsistent and unreliable access to power puts this vulnerable community at further risk of hardship.
