This individual is an intellectually disabled man who experienced significant trauma in early life, including sexual abuse perpetrated by his mother over an extended period. Approximately 12 months ago, he left the family home interstate in order to distance himself from this harmful environment and has since relocated to Canberra. He is now an NDIS participant and has begun engaging with supports to improve his safety, wellbeing, and independence.
Recently, he has achieved a positive milestone by securing an external property, providing him with a stable and safe living environment. This transition represents an important step toward recovery and increased autonomy. Ongoing support is focused on strengthening his daily living skills, emotional wellbeing, and capacity to build trust and maintain safe relationships, while ensuring he continues to feel secure in his new accommodation
