A 16-year-old young person has recently moved into his very first stable home after experiencing years of homelessness and sleeping rough from just 12 years of age. For much of his childhood, survival meant going without regular meals, relying on inconsistent support, and living day-to-day without safety or security.
Although he is now safely housed, the impact of prolonged homelessness and food insecurity continues to affect him deeply. He is struggling to afford basic groceries and essential food items while learning how to manage independent living for the first time. Simple things many people take for granted, such as opening a fridge with food in it, preparing regular meals, or not worrying about where the next meal will come from, are still new and overwhelming experiences for him.
Support through supermarket vouchers or food assistance would provide immediate relief and help him begin building a sense of stability, routine, and comfort within his new home.
