Since the devastating Northern Rivers floods in 2022, this 52-year-old woman has been without stable housing and is currently living in her house truck. Despite unimaginable challenges, she continues to face each day with resilience and courage.
She lives with multiple severe and life-limiting health conditions, including lupus, lymphoedema, cancer of the lymph nodes, and complex neurological issues that cause seizures whilst awake. These conditions have left her reliant on a wheelchair, unable to safely walk or drive, and in constant need of support for daily living.
Due to delays in obtaining Australian citizenship, she has been unable to access the NDIS and many essential supports that would normally assist someone with her level of disability and illness. As a result, she has fallen through the cracks of the system, and is currently relying on the generosity and compassion of the community to survive.
