Recipient story

Support to improve public community mental health clinic interview rooms
Other hardship(s)
We are seeking funding to redesign and refurbish our interview rooms to create calm, sensory‑informed spaces that support emotional regulation, reduce distress, and promote psychological safety for people accessing our service. The project will incorporate evidence‑informed environmental modifications to improve sensory modulation, support de‑escalation, and enable clients to participate more fully in assessment, interviews, and therapeutic conversations during periods of heightened stress.

Many people access our service while experiencing acute distress or dysregulation, and current interview spaces are not designed to support sensory needs. Factors such as lighting, noise, layout, and visual clutter can increase distress and limit engagement, particularly for individuals with trauma histories, mental health concerns, neurodivergence, or sensory sensitivities.
