GIVIT
Elderly man who was located residing in a vehicle after surgery to treat prostate cancer. Suffers heart and lung issues (serious). He has suffered from schizophrenia his entire life and is managing the symptoms with few relapses.
These health issues resulted in serious weight loss, joint swelling, lack of lung function, and potential kidney damage.
He was placed into emergency accommodation which has resulted in significant improvements to health. A purchased mobility scooter has allowed for freedom to some extent and created opportunity. His NDIS application fell through due to limited medical evidence and was assisted to re-apply with further details, this was explained to be a 12 month wait before receiving any decision.
He was linked to My Aged Care and has been granted assistance codes.
Emergency accommodation prices were surged by the owner making them no longer sustainable and we have managed to source a ground floor unit near the town centre.
