Young, single mother, working towards her year 12 certificate. Isolated & needs driver's licence to access supports/community
Other hardship(s)
Domestic & Family Violence
My client is a hard-working and dedicated young mother to a toddler. She has moved from interstate due to domestic and family violence, and she has limited family or social supports around her. She is currently working hard to attain her year 12 certificate. Her goal is to work in the healthcare sector one day and is looking towards doing further study after school. This young woman has had a history of family violence and trauma, which has resulted in her being isolated and unable to work. Therefore, she has been unable to afford driving lessons which would help her to get her licence and be able to transport herself and her young child to school, events, activities and parent groups. Without a driver's licence, she is extremely limited in where she can go and what she can do, which is increasing her isolation. If my client is able to drive, she and her child will be able to access more services, be engaged in the community, and have more freedom.
