Recipient story

Patients receiving mental health care who may be experiencing homelessness have limited to no access to funds.
Other hardship(s)
Domestic & Family Violence
Many clients who are admitted to our centre present with significant financial hardship and without access to resources. Patients are admitted to our inpatient unit to receive care for their acute mental health presentation and once they are ready for discharge, there is often no way for them to access food, clothing, or other necessities of life than to present to a crisis centre. Additionally, our clients often become lost to follow up due to not having a mobile phone to be contacted on. This places these individuals at a significant disadvantage and often results in their re-presentation to acute mental health services as they are lost to follow-up or are left with limited access to food / resources, and therefore are unable to access community services to aid in their recovery.
