54-Year-old indigenous woman. She moved into my own place after leaving a domestic violence situation. She was on the waitlist for social housing for almost 4 years.
She was in an abusive marriage for six years and is currently going through the process of divorce.
Throughout those years of violence, she did leave several times. She experienced homelessness and she was assaulted by a stranger while sleeping rough.
This instability means she does not have any furniture. She is in need of the essentials for a household such as a bed, couch, dining table and chairs, chest of drawers.
She has four children who I am not in contact with due to her husband.
She is on a Disability Pension for her mental health and anxiety. She is in extreme financial distress. She has little to no support and feels she is starting from scratch. She managed to get a NILS through the Salvation Army to fund a fridge, washing machine and dryer. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
