Recipient story

Fleeing domestic violence, families in emergency accommodation urgently need food support as they rebuild their lives in safe
Domestic & Family Violence
First Nations Support
After escaping domestic violence, individuals and families often arrive in emergency accommodation with little more than the clothes they are wearing. Many have left behind their homes, belongings, jobs, and support networks to find safety. The initial period after leaving an abusive situation is one of extreme vulnerability—emotionally, physically, and financially.

While emergency accommodation provides a safe roof over their heads, it often does not include essentials like food. With limited or no income, these families struggle to meet basic needs as they begin the difficult process of rebuilding their lives from scratch.

Providing support during this critical time helps restore a sense of stability and dignity. Access to food not only meets a fundamental human need but also gives survivors the strength and security to focus on healing, caring for their children, and planning their next steps. This is a pivotal moment in their journey—your help can make a real difference.
