Client requires assistance with food vouchers due to the unexpected expense of a medical appointment. As a result, she cannot afford to buy food for this month. Client suffers with extremely debilitating physical health conditions, including mobility issues, and therefore, she cannot work to generate more income.

Client suffers with pain & cannot afford to purchase food due to out-of-pocket fee for vital medical appointment.

Client, 53, single mother of 3 adult sons with substance abuse issues and mental health diagnoses (trauma and extreme domestic violence). Client lived across 3 states in the past 20 yrs to escape from violent ex-husband.
Client cannot work or drive, depends on disability pension, and relies on a mobility scooter/aids. She suffers with a degenerative spinal condition, hydrocephalus and myelomalacia - severely impacting movement, and causing ongoing debilitating pain and weakness, necessitating days of bed rest. Client’s is on the waitlist for public housing – ongoing struggles as rent requires 90% of weekly benefits.
Client’s pain levels are increasing, and she is often bedridden. Consequently, her GP referred to a pain management clinic for better pain management; however, due to the exorbitant appointment fee of $490 ($339 after Medicare rebate), she will be without food so she can afford to pay the fee. She declined said referral in the past due to the costs involved.
