50 + man recently become homeless following being evicted from property due to MH & hoarding with a history of cancer
GIVIT
A man aged 50+ with a history of cancer (currently in remission) has recently been evicted from his property and is now facing street homelessness with his service dog. The eviction followed due to ongoing mental health challenges, financial hardship and hoarding behaviours.
Multiple services have attempted to advocate for additional supports and reasonable adjustments to sustain his tenancy; however, these efforts were unsuccessful, and he will regrettably be returning to homelessness.
Due to his height (approximately 6 feet tall), and his current mental health needs, a larger tent is urgently required. This would allow him to stand upright, have adequate space, and safely accommodate both himself and his care dog. Access to appropriate shelter is critical to maintaining his dignity, reducing distress, and supporting his ongoing mental health and physical wellbeing while longer-term housing options are explored.
