Recipient story

Pregnant mother and young child fleeing high-risk violence now homeless and rebuilding toward safety and stability.
Domestic & Family Violence
First Nations Support
GIVIT
A mother in the late stages of pregnancy has courageously escaped a high-risk domestic and family violence situation to protect herself and her four-year-old child. Leaving urgently for safety meant abandoning their home, belongings, and financial stability.

They are currently homeless and staying in emergency accommodation while waiting for a housing transfer. Due to the ongoing housing crisis, this process may take time, leaving them in prolonged uncertainty. The trauma of violence, combined with late pregnancy and parenting a young child without stable housing, has created significant emotional and financial strain.

She is focused on rebuilding a safe, secure, and nurturing environment where her children can heal and thrive. Support during this critical transition will help provide stability while they wait for permanent housing and work toward a fresh start free from violence.

How it's helped before

I am writing to personally thank 'GIVIT' for a generous 'Simply Groceries eGift card' voucher that I was gifted, with $100 worth of essential spending money for my family & I to utilise at our own discretion. I can happily report this donation has assisted the purchase of a basic, solo, wifi security camera, with the excess going toward food for my teenage daughter who is currently taken on responsibilities around our home while I recover in a rehabilitation centre. Thank you for this kind gesture, as it has helped to improve security measures around our home & support my daughter to purchase daily essential items such as groceries, basic hygiene & cleaning products.

Thank you for your generous gesture & much needed support GIVIT.
