The applicant was impacted by the 2022 Lismore floods and lost all belongings when the rental property she was living in was inundated. Since that time, she and her child have experienced housing instability and have been residing in a temporary pod village established for flood-affected residents.
The applicant has recently been offered a long-term social housing property, providing her family with their first opportunity for stable, permanent housing since the floods. She is a single parent to a 10-year-old child and now requires assistance to purchase essential furniture to make the property liveable. Support with these items would help the family transition from temporary accommodation into a safe, functional home.
